SONNETS, THE: WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE
APPROACH
A variety of approaches has been taken to the study of these three sonnets. Students are given the opportunity to evaluate the structure, develop close readings of the text, compare sonnets and interpret different readings of the sonnets.
INTERACTION
Students are encouraged to develop their own reading of the sonnets and value their own interpretation. The strategies provided are designed to encourage confidence in students and to give them a voice. Rather than being given a definitive interpretation, students are involved in a process of discovery and exchange their views to arrive at an understanding of the texts in question and a greater appreciation of the sonnet form.
