Alfred Peet opened his first coffee roastery in 1966. Peet's Coffee and Tea still serves great coffee and conversation at its flagship store in Berkeley, California. However, unlike its competitors, the majority of Peet's business is in selling fresh roasted whole bean coffee. In recent years, Peet's growth has been tremendous. Today, the company has more than 120 locations across the U.S. In addition, Peet's markets its beans through a number of other channels. Peet's uses a sophisticated order fulfillment system to meet the company's changing needs.
