FIRST ROBOTICS: PIT CREW & COMPETITION DAY
Part 1: Pit Crew covers the final robot preparation processes. Topics focus on final modifications and preparations, troubleshooting, the most important attributes of a winning team, as well as students' tools and necessary skill sets illustrated by competition teams and their robots. Part 2: Competition Day reflects the excitement and the process of the competition itself, including interviews with winning teams. They explain what the key skills are to win, what they have learned from FIRST, and why it became a life changing experience for them. FIRST seeks to promote a philosophy of participation, teamwork and collaboration among students and engineers. As of 2007 high school teams totaling over 35,000 students compete annually from Brazil, Canada, Israel, Mexico, the Netherlands, the United States, and the United Kingdom. FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics, is an organization founded by the US inventor Dean Kamen in 1989 in order to develop ways to inspire, involve and offer exciting engineering and technology development experience to students. The teams are given six weeks to construct a competitive robot that can accomplish the game's tasks.
